There is a lot to see in San Francisco and a great place to start might be at Pier 39 . This is a great way to get a view of all of the favorite sights from along the San Francisco Bay. The Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz can both be seen from the edge of the pier as well as many great buildings of the city skyline. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. The famous sea lions can be seen belly up and snuggled together on some of the old boat piers. If you are visiting for the fourth of July than this is definitely where you want to be to see all of the fireworks. Spending time on the pier is free unless you enjoy something from the local vendors and restaurants. The kids are going to love the large house of mirrors at the Magowan’s Infinite Mirror Maze as well as the free live entertainment that is always going on.  

From Pier 39, it is easy to branch out to other sights such as the boat trip over to Alcatraz . Get your tickets a head of time because this event is always booked. If you don’t have a ticket to Alcatraz then it is not far to make your way over to the Golden Gate Bridge. The Bridge is fun to take a nice walk over while enjoying the spectacular views of the bay.  

Then there are the small streets filled with all sorts of interesting areas. Take a street car to Chinatown for a great meal and serious culture. Head up to Coit Tower for even more spectacular views. IF you are staying in a city hotel   like this you will find that it is rather easy to get to many different hot spots in a smaller amount of time. Things in San Francisco are not far from each other so pick up a street car map and have a great time.

For some people creating and implementing a home design plan is something that they look forward to with great anticipation. In fact, if they were given a choice, they would change the style every few months. However, for the rest of us, it is a task that sounds easier than it really is. If we can get through the furniture selection and placement, as well as choosing a complimenting paint color while still maintaining our sanity, then we can consider the task a success. With the pressure of getting the rest of the house in order, the windows are left relatively bare and forgotten.

The easiest thing to do in this situation would be to throw up some basic mini blinds and call the job done. And it can work in areas such as the bedrooms where you want something simple and understated. Some nice vertical or horizontal blinds with a matching valance can give the room a finished look without going overboard. However, depending on the style of the room and the blinds, they may not always work or look the best.

One room in particular that often requires a more detailed and unique touch is the living/ family room . This is the room that often gets the most use, besides the kitchen, and can be one of the more difficult to decorate. Most of the time we want something that is going to look nice as well as be functional. Fortunately, there are many choices out there from blinds and shades to shutters . If you want added privacy as well as style you can create your own custom look with curtains and swags . Even large and custom-built windows are no match for all that is available online and in home specialty stores. With so much at your fingertips, there are no longer any excuses for not making the most of your windows.

It’s a fantastic thing to see the great groups of youth come together to play again, and it’s even more so when youth is still beating strongly. Here, you can get a taste of the sweetness of nostalgia without all the bitterness about being too old to enjoy it. That’s what happens when local bands like Frogchild come to play, and this show, at Anna Bannana’s , then there are plenty of good reasons to celebrate. It’s worth the cost to get a cool hotel and hop over to see how these things sound almost two decades later.

Two decades does sound a little long, however, and it’s probably more like one, unless we do the math correctly. They were big here in 1992, which is starting to look longer ago than anyone who was grungy then would care to admit. Is it already time for a retro 90s? Apparently it is, but apparently, we can hold it back, like bringing Tinkerbell back to life, if we all clap hard enough.

With funk rock favorites like Frogchild taking some of their great works out from the cellar, it’s really too much of a happy moment to give too much attention to the threat of aging. And it makes no sense to wonder why they never made the big time. Because in reality, the big time did not exist then, and it doesn’t exist now. It’s as much of an illusion as anything, because fame during a lifetime doesn’t mean people will still listen to you in a hundred years.

It’s not up to us. In Hawaii, where there are strong suggestions that another indie something is on the rise, however, then it makes sense to be hearing this band again. This is our voice and our music, and maybe it’s our time to be showing the next generation what was good about the last one. They’ll either adopt or repeat or adapt or ignore, and that’s exactly how it is supposed to be.
