Chewbacca in Delhi
Finding somewhere to sleep in Delhi is not difficult, everyone told me to plan my trip, but I like to wing it. I find it makes the trip more exciting and fresh. I found an amazing room at a Palace hotel India is known for, and the rates were decent. The room was fantastic.
But, I suppose it’s better to plan if traveling in high season from a security point of view, but all the same, I passed through immigrations and went to the pre-paid taxi booth and grabbed a taxi to Paharganj with one of the most friendly drivers I’ve ever met. Meanwhile, back at the hotel, I’m sleeping like a baby till about 7am when hunger wakes me up, but I went back to sleep and my hunger must have been greater than I thought, because I had a dream about Rygel from Farscape, Princess Peaches from Mario and Chewbacca who kept screaming at me. It was very very bizarre.
I finally got up around 10am and grabbed a nice hot shower and headed outside. I needed to exchange some money, so I went to the nearest exchanger and waited in line, there was a T.V. blasting behind me and the news was on, it was weird to hear music from the Gladiator soundtrack behind one of the reports. India, I swear. I ended up just walking around all day, letting the sights, sounds, smells take me away. That’s usually how I travel, no plans, no agenda, just being, seeing and experiencing each place I go. New Delhi is so alive, indescribable, almost intangible because there is so much happening all the time that there’s virtually no way to understand it.
I decide one day is enough here, so I go back and pack up and catch a taxi to the train station and see what trains available.
